All That Glitters Is Not Gold... But It Sure Is Pretty!

So as the title may suggest, this is a post about glitter!

I have two different companies I'm going to talk about Eye Kandy Cosmetics & Glitter Express

Eye Kandy Cosmetics

So I got my Eye Kandy delivery just before Christmas and I was the happiest! I got the Kandy Bag with two sprinkle pods (so that's Eye Kandy's Liquid Sugar and 2 tubes of glitter) and two other glitters.

In the bag came two glitters, Liquid Sugar and a brush for making liner out of glitter (they also threw in a little candy cane, nice touch!)

The colours I got were;
Sour Grape - a lovely bright yet deep purple
Candy Coin (which they sent me free, so lovely) - a stunning gold, it's a very luxurious gold, and pictures just don't do it ANY justice whatsoever!
Mad Mellon - a lime green, which when put over Sugarpill's Acidberry is just SO GOOD!
Raspberry Blast - a winey red with a hint of black through
Sour Berry - a really lovely kelly green

The glitter itself is so fine and lovely to use, it's super pigmented and super glittery and shiney.

Liquid Sugar... I don't even know where to start with this amazing invention, really and truly. I've tried this and glitter glues, and Liquid Sugar wins every time. Glitter glues leave your eyes feeling quite sticky I find, whereas Liquid Sugar makes the glitter so it doesn't budge at all. It at first feels like you're putting water on your eyes then whey you put the glitter on top and it dries, it doesn't feel hard or anything but seals everything in place and it doesn't crack or let glitter fall down onto your cheeks!

If you're a glitter lover, I would 100000000000000% recommend you get this stuff for sticking it down!

Glitter Express

So what feels like it was a million years ago, I went to the Beauty Show in the RDS with the lovely Grace  and like magpies to shiny things, we were attracted to the Glitter Express booth. I went slightly wild and just wanted EVERYTHING, and I did get quite a lot of colours (treat yo' self and all that). The girls at the booth were so helpful and lovely too, which made it nicer to buy from them!

I don't know the names of the glitters (or if they even have any, but sure)

This gorgeous light blue is one of my favourites I got, it's really versatile. I love adding it over Melt Cosmetics Fixated!

I love this fluro green, I've yet to try it but the colour is sooo lovely I can't wait to try it!

I love this really rich red, it kind of reminds me of Christmas, it will be nice with a bit of gold for a Christmassy look!

This is really different and I was attracted to it instantly, so much so that I ordered 2 huge bags of it off their website (oops) but it's so unusual but nice!

This is a really lovely purple, I love to put it over Sugarpills Dollipop it really pops!

I think if you love glitter, check out Glitter Express, they have a gorgeous selection of colours and the price is so reasonable I'll be getting my glitter from Glitter Express from now on!

The Versatile Blogger Nomination

Thank you veryyyyyy much to the lovely Amy for the nomination! I hadn't a clue you'd nominated me until today, when I was having a little read through posts that I've missed the last few days! (Also hadn't a clue what this was all about)

So the Versatile Blogger nomination means, if you get nominated.. Tell your followers 7 things about yourself, so they can get to know you better!

Let's get started...

  1. I am a qualified makeup artist as of 2013. I did my course in Vanity X in Swords. I didn't ALWAYS love makeup, I used to not wear any makeup at all.. and I used to not EVER do my brows (who ever let me leave the house years ago?!). However I love it now, it's alllll I ever think about.
2. I am a huge huge huge animal lover! My puppy (will always and forever be a puppy) Dice is my BABY. People used to think I actually had a child when I talked about him. My fluffy baby!

3. I currently work in an office with my mam and my aunty.

4. I've studied both Photogrpahy and Makeup in college. I didn't really like photography that much to study, but I do love it as a hobby, I own too many camera's... but always want more!
5. In 2008 (I think it was 2008) I went to Las Vegas & Florida with my mam and dad, but I was wheelchair ridden as I dislocated my knee from falling a week before going (big oopsie)
6. I'm a through and through spendaholic...  it's very hard for me to not spend money!
7. One of my favourite foods is tofu... a lot of people hate it but I loveeee it, can change it to any taste and the texture is weird but i like it!

I'm pretty boring aha.
I nominate anyone who reads this for your facts about ya & comment here to tell me you did it! (if youve already done it... let me know anyway! :)

Squeeky clean | Makeup brush cleaner glove

A squeaky clean start..

So I haven't been blogging for a long time.. and the end of 2014 was pretty bad for me so I was in a bit of a funk.. BUT I'm back! :-)

So why not start a new year with a cleaning implement?

I'm sure some of you have heard of the Sigma Spa Brush Cleaning Glove, I've always wanted one since I first seen them but the price definitely put me off! So after ages and ages of wanting one, I finally did a handy google search for a dupe (why I didnt do this sooner.... we'll never know).

With my searching I came across the RC Cosmetics Cleaning Glove, I was thrilled......UNTIL I seen the shipping to Ireland.. $24.75 for one glove?! HELL NO!

My search continued and I came across the RC Cosmetics Ebay!!
Shipping €8.26.. glove itself €7.11. PERFECT!

So I ordered it on Christmas Day and received it today (02.01.15) SO FAST. I had to try it straight away. I deep cleaned every single one of my brushes today, inc. my kit brushes.
What would normally take me about 1hr+ only took me half an hour. Absolutely brilliant! I really would recommend anyone who has a lot of makeup brushes to get this, particularly anyone interested in the Sigma brush cleaning glove.
My onlyyyy think is, I wish like the sigma one it had smaller bumps for smaller brushes like eye brushes, but for that price.. is it worth complaining about? NAHHH!

Here's some photo's of the glove itself;

Look at the cute little raised hearts!

Lines on the side, for wringing out brushes.

On a whole, I love this. Definitely an investment, I'm so glad I bought this.

Peaceeeee xo

Lip Care!

I decided to make a post about lip care! In my opinion, lip care is a very important thing... from lip scrubs to lip balms it's all important.

All of my lip care products
Most of these products have been accumulated on my travels back and forth from England, it's becoming a bit of a habit to just go into Boots in Newcastle airport and buy a new type of lip balm!

Apple Chapstick

Cherry Chapstick

Blistex Raspberry Lemonade Blast

Baby Lips: Cherry Me

Balmi: Raspberry

All of the above are my favourite pocket lip care things, my ultimate favourite is the Blistex Raspberry Lemonade Blast, the smell is unreallll! I love the others, and I always have the baby lips in my purse for when I'm out and my lips get really dry! The Balmi is great too, I usually keep that at home in case I lose it, I love the smell of this one, it smells like raspberry petit filous yoghurts, can't go wrong really. As for the chapsticks, the good ole reliable's, I usually find them in random bags/jackets/hoodies, that I haven't worn in ages. All of these lip balms with the exception of the Baby Lips, have no colour payoff. They're all really light and not heavy on the lips, not sticky or tacky. If I had to narrow it down to just one of these to have it would most definitely be the Blistex, it's so fabulous and smells AMAZING!!

NOW, for my "how did I live without these before I discovered them?" products!

Lush Lip Scrub in Bubblegum

A lot of people already know about Lush's lip scrubs (they come in other flavours I don't know exactly what they are though) and it's fab! I don't know how much this was, I can't remember it was so long ago I got it! (and as you can see the packaging is in bits from always bringing it travelling with me), If you don't know about this, then let me tell you how it works... You take a lil bit out of the pot on your finger, and scrub your lips, then lick it off! Tastes unreal, and leaves your lips SO soft!! I usually use it before I apply lipstick so my lipstick has a nice smooth surface and so there's no dry bits on my lips!

Dr. Lipp, Nipple Balm for Lips!

THIS STUFF!!! I only came across this product because I got a little free sample with an order from Cult Beauty. This stuff is AMAZING for dry and chapped lips, it is quite thick, but not really sticky and tacky. This is going to be my go to balm forever, seriously. Before buying a full size tub though, I did have a little read up on the product and found out more uses than just lip care which is just brilliant, multi use products get a huge two thumbs up from me! Here are some of the uses for it, as listed from the Dr.Lipp website;

Beauty Uses:

- Use as a long lasting lip-gloss
- Prep dry skin before applying foundation for a more even look.
- Cheek shine
- Eye gloss for a dewy look
- Shaping eyebrows
- Lip primer to help prevent blotching
- As a mixer for pigments
- Perfect for ‘glitter lips’, ‘eye glitter’ & diamantes
- For keeping victory rolls in place
- As an assistant to help keep tassels in place
- To ease chafing from sequins and spiky costumes
- As a quick-grab healer for when you cut yourself on corset hooks
- Last minute shoe polish!

Skincare Uses:

- Helps soothe and soften chapped lips
- Helps prevent dry cuticles
- Helps soothe dry skin patches
- Helps reduce fine lines under the eyes
- Helps moisturise & nourish split ends
- Helps nourish eye lashes
- As a healer for nipple tape rash
- Helps with small cuts, burns and abrasions
- Bacteriostatic

- Helps soothe Nappy rash
- Helps with itchy skin and eczema
- Helps soothe sore nipples from breastfeeding

There are so many uses for the Nipple Balm for Lips, it's worth the £11.50 you spend, and a little goes a very long way!!
So to sum up, my most important lip care products are the Lush Lip Scrub, and the Dr.Lipp Nipple Balm for Lips!

Holiday Haul - Drugstore Brand!

Sooooo, as I said in my last haul post I'd do one of my drugstore brand purchases (which I received this afternoon). They're all from MUA Makeup Academy! I love MUA stuff, as it's cheap and cheerful... the products are great too!

So this is all that I got, a green mascara, 2 eyeliner pencils, 2 liquid eyeliners and 4 lip lacquers!

I didn't try this yet but I did have an open up of it and had a look and it seems like it will be a good enough mascara that only cost £1!! The colour is shade 2. I seem to be obsessed with coloured mascara lately, and particularly green mascara's!

I picked up a green eyeliner pencil, because who doesn't love green? I love this shade of green... and if I decide I don't like it as an eyeliner I can always use it as a lipliner for my Lime Crime Serpentina Lipstick as it seems to be just the right colour to match it (I'd match them up now but I'm still away and didn't bring Serpentina with me!). What I love about these eyeliners is that they have a built in sharpener on the lid, HANDY AS HELL! This colour is called Forest Green.

I also got this lovely orange colour! If you know me well.... you'll know that I do love an orange eye... and this will just make it even better for me! If anyone can recommend an orange mascara for me, PLEASE DO! Again love the handy sharpener on the lid! This colour is called Bright Orange.

Next up I have the 2 liquid eyeliners that were actually free with any purchase! Please excuse the really bad swatch of the black one, I was rushed taking the photo's! I opted for black and silver because why not! The consistency of the liquid eyeliners are great and they dry quite quick I find BUT... the applicator is really stiff, it feels like a piece of bendy plastic and isn't a brush! The silver is shade 4 and the black is shade 5!

And I've saved the best till last! The MUA Luxe Lip Lacquers which have been said to be dupes of Lime Crime's Velvetines, which are liquid to matte lipsticks! I loveeee these, I already have 3 other colours are home! They're slightly slow to dry I have to admit but they do have a lot of staying power! This shade is a lovely light nude and the colour is called Halcyon.

This colour is a slightly darker nude (although they look very similar in the photo's) and the colour of this is called Tranquility.

This one is a lovely powder pink colour, and the colour is Serene!

Last but not least is this lovely bright almost neon shade called A Flush, and to be honest it isn't the colour advertised on the website... the swatch on the website is what i'd describe as a dusky pink colour, I still love this colour though!

So that's it for my drugstore haul, hope you enjoyed reading it! If you have any questions or anything just drop me a comment or a tweet @haylahhh! Also if you like my blog, gimme a cheeky follow!

Holiday Haul!! High end products!

So I've been in England, visiting my boyfriend.. Hence the lack of posts, but he's asleep right now so perfect time to do a haul post!

I was excited to be going through the airport to get some airport priced treats for myself, but didn't get everything I needed so I had to buy some online and get them delivered to Matthew's house because I had my list in mind and I needed my things! I did order some drug store brand things that should be here in a day or two so I'll post about them when I get them!

On with the haul...
All of the things I picked up!

First thing I picked up (before I went away because I needed it) was Benefit's Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow in the shade "I'm pure 4 sure" Ivory.

There's a swatch on my arm of it there!
To be honest I was quite disappointed with this product, maybe it just doesn't sit well on my skin or something but it just seems to come off after a while! I could set it with all the setting powder I have in the world and it still just doesn't seem right! However there was a little saving grace with it, a free sample of the Stay Flawless primer with it (gotta love free samples!) and that did help a lot but I still found that for whatever reason this foundation just isn't my friend, in saying that I will just use it for every day and get a different foundation for going out looks!

Second thing I got was the full size Stay Flawless 15-Hour Primer from Benefit!
I have to say I did try this before and loved it with an old foundation so I decided I must have it! It's great, the texture is nice and it's easy to apply. I've heard it described as pritt stick, and that's pretty much exactly what it is... Just the make up version! It's fabulous, would recomend to a friend!

The next thing I got was a MAC lipstick in the shade Myth (satin)!

I've heard rave reviews about this lipstick, it seems like it's a must have for every makeup artist, and that it is! For me it kinda looks like I've just put foundation on my lips but if I put it on top of a pink lip liner it's a perfect nude for myself!

The next one I wanted to get in the airport but they didn't have it (devastated!!) because I bought it when I used to work in the airport and it's gone missing, I searched high and low, in pockets and bags and under beds for it but it's no where to be found in my house.... It was possibly one of my favourite lipsticks I ever bought, so I had to get it online while I was here! It's MAC's Viva Glam III (matte) lipstick, it's a kind of browny red colour and I adore it so much!
In my eyes this is a must must must have!!!!

I then got MAC's Violetta (amplified) lipstick as I was sent a newsletter email from MAC about pro lipsticks, and like the sucker I am... I had to have it! In saying that it's a lovely bright purple but it's not as deep as Heroine lipstick from MAC!
Such a pretty shade!

The last but certainly not least product I got was a MAC pigment in Green Space! It's a stunning bright green colour and I'm absolutely in love with it! Anyone who knows me knows I am a sucker for crazy colours! Now, to my sadness there was a warning not to use Green Space on the eye area... HEARTBROKEN, but I sent MAC an email and asked what would happen if I did use it on my eyes and they said it could cause irritation but it doesn't irritate everyone... So if I do use it on my eyes (which I will) it'll be at my own risk and I'll take the consequences!

I've swatched it without any primer, then in the middle with the Too Faced Eyeshadow Insurance Primer in the middle and then with NYX's Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk. In my opinion it looks best with Milk (had I have blended Milk out properly and made it even!!). Nonetheless I LOVE this colour and I can see myself using it a lot!

That's all for the high end holiday haul, and when I get my drugstore products I'll make a post about them! I hope you've enjoyed this post, if you have any questions just leave me a comment or tweet me @haylahhh on twitter!

Thanks for reading xo
